The year 2007 is a very exciting year, as the University will be celebrating 15 years of excellence in education. The association will be undertaking vigorous awareness campaigns to raise its profile and that the University at large, as part of the institution's 15 th year anniversary. Information about the various events that will take place will be communicated to all registered members through the post, as well as on the University website. Below are some of the activities lined up.

Chancellor's Visit
The University of Namibia Alumni Association paid a courtesy call on the Chancellor of the University and Founding Father of the Namibian nation His Excellency Dr Sam Nujoma, on the 23 rd of March 2006.
The association briefed the Chancellor about some of its activities such as its fruitful AGM and Dinner that took place last year. The importance of the association's contribution to economic development was raised. The association requested support from the Chancellor's office particularly in the form of advise and fund raising initiatives. The Chancellor was also assured that the association was looking at ways of contributing to the current state of education. Two members of the association serve on the University Council and are able to contribute to better management of the University.
Principals' & Guidance teachers' open day
The Office of the Registrar hosted a Principals Day on the 15 September 2006. As part of the programme, the Alumni Association gave a presentation to over 50 principals and guidance teachers who came from various secondary schools around the country. A number of presentations focusing on academic disciplines and registrations procedures were made by various staff members. By show of hand, about 10 of the principals and guidance teachers who attended the event indicated they graduated from the University. Application brochures were distributed to them to handover to their students. They were also encouraged to take up further studies with the University.
The annual general meeting of the Alumni Association took place on the 13 th October 2006, at the UNAM Leisure Centre from 09h00. The meeting was attended by approximately 80 graduates from the University.

- Public Lecture Dr Axel Rothauge
The University of Namibia hosted a public lecture titled: "Veld Degradation on Cattle Ranches" on 26 th October 2006 by a University alumnus Dr. Axel Rothauge. Dr Rothauge is an Animal Scientist by profession and lectures subjects like Game Ranching and Animal Nutrition. He is currently the Acting Principal for Neudam Agricultural College. His lecture extensively covered issues surrounding livestock ranching in Namibia. The lecture was attended by over 70 people among them farmers, agriculture students, representatives from Ministry of Agriculture.
The Alumni Association hosted a dinner especially for the graduates that started around 19h00 at Wanderers Sports Hall on the 28 th October 2005. The dinner was well attended by 125 people and included entertainment by Lazarus Jacobs and music by Wanii Jansen. This was a great opportunity for alumnis to interact with one another. The chairperson Ms N Ndopu welcomed the audience and introduced the members of the Executive Committee. The C&M Director, Mr E Tjiramba delivered a few words on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of Namibia who was unable to attend the function. He highlighted the importance of the Alumni Association for the growth of the University and added that two executive committee members serve on the UNAM Council giving them a platform to influence policy matters of the University. A lucky price draw also took place with prizes like UNAM bags, t-shirts, caps and a lunch for two at Wanderers being won.
