Situated about 60 km west of Oshakati in the Oshana Region, Ogongo is another modern campus, accommodating UNAM's Crop Science Department of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Department of Crop Science
The purpose is to participate in the development of technology that is suited for dryland and irrigated cropping in Namibia. These technologies are encompassed in breeding, physiology, nutrition, irrigation and protection of crops and mushroom.
The department also has a soil science and agriculture engineering sections, that act as services to the efficiency of crop production in Namibia.
This reflects another initiative by the University of Namibia to reach out to the large population contingent in the northern part of Namibia , through establishing a smart partnership with the Government's Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Forestry.
