MISSION STATEMENT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF NURSING
The mission of the School of Nursing & Public Health and its Departments is to prepare academically and professionally qualified persons for the health needs of Namibian society and to render services, especially in the domains of preventative, promotive, curative and rehabilitative health fields.
INTRODUCTION
The Department of Nursing Sciences is an integral part of the School of Nursing & Public Health in the University of Namibia . It is found at the main University Campus in Windhoek and also at the UNAM Oshakati Campus.
COURSE OF STUDY
The Oshakati Campus Department offers a basic course in nursing: Bachelor of Nursing Science (Clinical).
ADMISSION
To be admitted to this course of study a candidate must comply with the following conditions:
- Hold a valid HIGCSE or IGCSE certificate with passes in at least five subjects.
- English is a compulsory subject and the candidate should have obtained the following grades:
- (HIGCSE: Grade D or better)
- (IGCSE: Grade C or better)
- Minimum of 25 points in the best five subjects including English (on the UNAM evaluation point scale).
- Admission will also be considered for persons who qualify through the Mature Age Entry Scheme.
DURATION OF STUDY
- Four (4) years
- The maximum period of study is six (6) years.
