PRINCIPLES

The following are nine propositions that provide a detailed inventory of intentions, social environment and approach that characterize the Northern Campus:

  • The Northern Campus will sustain and increase community participation in planning and delivering programmes.

  • The campus will endeavor to exemplify and promote values that are consonant with the Campus Vision, UNAM Vision and the National Vision;

  • Always mindful of the need to contribute to economic improvements, the Northern Campus will address all aspects of skills, knowledge, and behavior that contribute towards a satisfying human existence.

  • The Northern Campus will develop programmes that address the needs of society and on cost-effective basis.

  • Programmes offered at the Northern Campus will be equivalent to those offered at recognized universities in the world, in terms of content, quality and standards.

  • The Northern Campus will be accessible to all Namibian students, as well as to students from beyond the borders of Namibia.

  • The campus will offer both formal and non-formal programmes.

  • The Northern Campus will provide flexible modes of delivery in both its non-formal and formal programme, and will endeavor to provide multiple entries and exit points.

  • The campus will provide facilities for, and develop, a research capacity that is particularly oriented towards illuminating and understanding significant social, cultural, and economic issues in the north central regions.
