Poverty Reduction Strategies Towards the Achievement of Vision 2030
7- 9th September 2006 , UNAM Oshakati Campus
Poverty is a complex deep-seated pervasive reality, which results from interlocking factors. It hinders growth, fuels instability and keeps countries from advancing on a path to sustainable development. Moreover, reduction of poverty is regarded as central towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), National Development Plans (NDP's) and Vision 2030. In concrete terms, Namibia's Poverty Reduction Strategies focuses on three areas that are considered key to progress in poverty reduction namely, how to foster more equitable and efficient delivery of public services; how to accelerate equitable agricultural expansion and options for non-agricultural economic empowerment. The conference aims to explore poverty alleviation strategies, which are geared towards the realization of sustainable economic and social development.
