7. Short Biography Andries Visagie is a Namibian with nineteen years of experience in the education sector in South Africa and Namibia, respectively. He has been involved in distance education for the past 9 years. Mr Andries Visagie is an assistant lecturer in the Department of Student Support at the Centre for External Studies and tutor Basic Business Mathematics, Analytic Geometry, Complex Numbers and Matrices, and Pre-calculus for the distance students. He is also responsible for the coordination of the Bachelor of Education (Sciences), Diploma in Education (Specialisation Biology, Mathematics and Physical Science), Special Diploma in Education (Fashion & Fabrics and Home Economics) and the Special Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership. He has been involved in the assessment of Mathematics for the Namibian Junior Secondary Certificate. He has been involve in    various in-service training programmes such as the INSTANT, MASTEP, Ekondopeko Maths, School Laboratory Management and Departmental Management of Maths & Science at Senior Secondary Schools amogst others. He has been a team member of the 2002 Maths Task Force. He currently serves as a member of the   ETSIP Maths Task Force. He is a member of the SAARMSTE Namibian Chapter and has conducted a relatively few research studies in Namibia.
