FACILITIES

The Centre is located on a 100 ha site to the north of Henties Bay, on dunes overlooking the ocean and the Omaruru Riverbed. A second site has been acquired for mariculture and agricultural field trials to the south of the town. The buildings are of award-winning style, and construction of more facilities is underway.

This building houses a modern wet laboratory and has accommodation for up to four visiting scientists.

The multi-purpose hall has lecture and catering facilities with lodgings for the Centre’s Director on the first floor.

The mariculture research laboratories, with broodstock, larvae, live food and juvenile on-growing facilities.

Next to the mushroom house is the greenhouse building, where research on bio-saline agriculture is carried out.

The administration building also contains a herbarium, library, microbiology labs and a state-of-the art communications centre.

The microbiological laboratories are fitted with all the necessary equipment to carry out high quality research.
