The Language Centre serves as the centre for language learning, teaching and research. The key focus is on the upgrading of competence in the use of English. It offers a variety of foreign and Namibian languages and also provides translation and consultancy services by offering tailor-made courses to the wider public and business community in Windhoek , Oshakati, Swakopmund and Walvisbay. As a national centre of language excellence, the Language Centre endeavours to serve students, staff of the university, and the broader community.

The University of Namibia Language Centre provides English language upgrading courses to first year undergraduate and diploma students at the Windhoek and Oshakati Campuses. It also provides a range of needs-based special and short courses for adult learners wishing to improve their English.
A range of courses in Namibian and foreign languages are also offered.
The Language Centre at the Windhoek Campus is situated in Block D. Staff offices and classrooms are on both the first and second floors. The Self-Access area and administrative offices are on the second floor.
