7. Short Biography Kenneth Matengu has worked as a researcher at the Graduate School of Geography in Finland, and was based at the Department of Geography at the University of Joensuu from 2000 until December, 2006. He was educated in Windhoek (Namibia) and Joensuu (Finland) where he majored in Physical Geography and Sociology for his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Namibia, and completed his Masters degree and Licentiate of Social Sciences  as well as his PhD at the University of Joensuu. Matengu has extensive research experience in information society research, the adoption factors of ICT in schools and their implications to the education system. He also specialises in technology innovation adoption and information society development in southern Africa. Matengu’s research interests inbclude barriers to innovation adoption, technology innovation diffusion and technology transfer, communal land-use changes, GIS applications, tourism, border research, and community-based natural resource management approaches. He is currently a research fellow at the Multidisciplinary Research Centre, University of Namibia, where he is Head of Social Sciences. He is also the UNAM Deputy Coordinator of Research
