Biography in brief

Gert graduated from the University of Leeds, UK in 1996, where he completed a Degree of Master Of Arts in Development Studies.. Prior to that he attend the University of The Western Cape, were he obtain, both a Baccalaureus of Artium and a Honours of Baccalaureus of Artium.

He joined the SSD in 1991 as a Junior Researcher, promoted to Researcher in 1997. In 2001 he became Head of the SSD and the following year was promoted to Deputy Director on a rotational basis. He served in both positions until the end of 2007. From 2008 until to date he served as programme leader for the Social and Epidemiological Program at the SSD

Project supervision & co-supervision

Country Coordinator for the Equitable Project which is an EU funded project for the next 4 years
