RESOURCE CENTRE
Background:
The MRC Resource Centre houses a collection of development related literature, both published and unpublished. Many of these project documents and reports are not available elsewhere in Namibia, as such the Resource Centre provides an invaluable service to the academic, research and development communities in Namibia. MRC has securedfunding from a number of sources to expand the Resource Centre's Collection, and there is an active active acquisitions policy in the Division's programme research fields. As part of it's active acquisitions policy, the Resource Centre has literature exchanges which have been set up with various organizations and institutes, both local and international, which specialize either in African Studies or on topics related to social and economic research in Southern Africa and the developing world.
The MRC publications are an important function of the Resource Centre. They are devided in three types:
- Divisional Research Reports, which present results of completed
research projects
- Discussion Papers, which are generally the intern results of research
reports, journal articles in preparation, and graduate student's
Masters of PhD theses
- Commisioned Reports, which result from external assignments
undertaken by staff members.
