(maximum 150 words)

Dr. Lutaaya is a quantitative geneticist and has been involved in teaching and research in livestock with specific interest in genetic evaluation of goats, sheep, beef cattle and swine. The courses he has taught include: Genetics, Animal Breeding, Animal Reproduction, Biometrics, Research and Experimental Design, Livestock Production Systems and Beef production. He has also been involved in a number of consultancy projects where he has primarily provided statistical support. His research interests are in application of linear models to the genetic improvement of livestock. He is also interested in characterization of indigenous breeds of livestock.

Training of emerging commercial farmers (January 2008) with sponsorship from the EU.

Current Research Project:

Lutaaya,E., E.C. Musaba, G. Kamupingene, P. Muteka and M. Nandi. Assessment of rangeland condition and productivity of livestock on UNAM farms in Otjiwarongo District.

Other activities:
Served as a reviewer for the Botswana Journal of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (BOJAAS) since 2007.

Served as external examiner for the Polytechnic of Namibia.

Have been active member of the Taskforce appointed in 2007 by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Research to set up the school of post-graduate studies at UNAM; the work is still ongoing.

Member of the Taskforce set up by the Executive Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources for the establishment of the Pre-Veterinary School at UNAM.

Member of the Taskforce set up in 2008 by the Executive Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources for commercialization of the UNAM farms.
