Mr Mafwila launched his teaching career as early as 1993 as a high school teacher at Ikumwe Secondary School in the Caprivi Region before deciding to study further at the University of Namibia. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in 1998 and joined the Multidisciplinary Research Centre (MRC) at UNAM the same year, where he worked as an Assistant Researcher in the Community Based Natural Resources Management Programme. During his tenure he attracted both international and national funding for various projects under leadership. He furthered his studies in South Africa and came back to join the Faculty of Agriculture as a Lecturer in 2003.
