Martin is a holder of a MSc. (Aquaculture and Water Bio-Resources) degree from the Astrakhan State Technical University, Russian Federation, 2002. He was employed as a Fisheries Biologist tasked with the setting up of community based aquaculture projects in the Kavango, Caprivi and Omusati Regions. He joined the Sam Nujoma Marine and Coastal Resources Research Centre as a research officer in September, 2003 where he undertook and participated in various research studies on the abalone feed comparisons, artificial propagation of indigenous finfish and the evaluation of Namibian seaweed. In 2004 he undertook a study visit to Rhodes University in South Africa and Stirling University in the United Kingdom where he equipped himself with the finer art of hatchery techniques and finfish husbandry and was instrumental with the development of the Sam Nujoma Marine and Coastal Resources Research Centre’s Five Year Development Plan. He participated in successfully completed consultancy projects for the BCLME, the Walvis Bay Municipality and National Youth Service.
In March 2009 he accepted a lecturer position at the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences where he was tasked with teaching of Fisheries Biology & Aquatic Animal Physiology, Water Chemistry, Population Dynamics and Aquaculture as well as the coordination of student research projects.
Mr. Tjipute possess a proven track record in working effectively with variety of people and organizations at all levels including solving contentious problems and conflict resolutions. I facilitated at several workshops thus I am capable of communicating effectively both orally and written. Represented the university at regional and national platforms in various stakeholders planning / strategic workshops and meetings which enables my also to provide proper debriefing of decisions taken at various meetings to all stakeholders.
