Thematic Areas:
Thematic areas are generally designated according to the subjects presented within the Faculty, industry trends and global best practices. These are but not limited to the following:
Theme 1: Management
The focus is on recent trends and developments regarding the value of sustainable and acceptable practices in global business and strategic management. Presenters may focus global best practices in strategy and operations management, both in the private and public sector. Much interest and debate should be generated on growth and turnaround strategies, prospects and issues of nationalization versus commercialization, constraints and limitations of such models, management education in developing countries and emerging economies.
Theme 2: Leadership & Corporate Governance
Thought leadership is key! The focus is on the role of leadership and governance in development discourse of Africa in the 21st Century. Challenges of leadership, governance and recent trends and developments regarding business practices and corporate governance in Africa and the world over. Presenters may take liberty to show their prowess and genial discourses with reference to Africa and beyond, exploring the rapid pace with which change is occurring, together with papers covering specific topics in which change has occurred over the past few years.
Theme 3: IT & ICT applications in global business management
Papers covering how IT and ICT information affects and influence planning, decision-making and practice in global business today shall be presented. Presenters may focus on what today’s managers and strategic planners need to know and appreciate with reference to IT & ICT so as to aid planning, strategy development, procedures, policies, legislation and governance issues.
Theme 4: Operations Management & Global Business
In contemporary global business, operations research and operations management are key to corporate and global strategies. What makes other businesses fail in places where others are succeeding and are prosperous? What are the challenges and constraints facing businesses in the global arena?...many questions will be answered and explored by researchers and practitioners in this conference.
Theme 5: Marketing & Branding/Brands Management
Marketing, brand strategy and brand management have become more essential for marketplace success. Papers may focus on how to help organizations/firms release the full potential of their brands. Researchers may present on such disciplines as advertising, branding, sales promotion, segmentation, marketing communications, customer relationship management, customer care and public relations. How do great brands become great? There are many factors, some obvious, some not so obvious. How to build a winning brand team? What are the common threads that help lead products to success across verticals? Experts and industry specialists will make presentations on these and more issues pertaining to marketing.
Theme 6: Human Resources Management & Training
Strategic human resource management focuses on the proactive management of people. It requires critical thinking ahead of time and planning ways for a company to better meet the needs of its employees, and for the employees to better meet the needs of the company. Papers will give the latest developments in the world of HRM and presenters will zoom into the trends and contemporary issues in global HRM.
Theme 7: Banking & Finance
Papers covering costing information, planning and decision-making; international finance, financial markets, financial institutions, risk & insurance and services; corporate finance and governance, educational finance, retirement funds and planning, legislation and life, disability or medical insurance can be submitted.
Panel discussions will generally touch on the content of all six themes. Papers that do not fit exactly into any of the above mentioned thematic areas, but which fit in with the overall conference theme and purpose are very much welcome.
