Conferences organized
- The 1st International Conference on Decentralisation planned for 26 -28 May 2009 was organized by the Department of Political and Administrative studies. In all, eight papers were presented including one from Zimbabwe, and one from South Africa. Several Governors, CROs, CEOs and Councillors were in attendance. Some master’s degree students also took part in the deliberations. Selected papers will soon be published in the form of a conference proceedings book. Please watch this space for more information.

- ICAF 2009 – 20 – 21 July 2009 (International Conference on Accounting and Finance 2009) is being organized by the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Income Tax. ICAF 2009 aims to bring together, from all over the world about 100-150 academicians, practitioners, policy makers, researchers and students to brain storm on contemporary issues on accounting and finance and other business related issues. Selected conference papers will be published in the form of an edited book. A few papers will also be published in the Namibia Development Journal through a double blind review process. Conferences Attended
- Mr. Martin Sikanda represented FEMS (DPAS) at a training workshop at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. The training on thesis supervision took place between 23rd and 30th of April 2009.

- Mr. Erwin Naimhwaka attended and presented a paper on Inflation and Poverty in SADC: Is there convergence in Inflation Policy in SADC
- Dr. Omu Kakujaha-Matundu submitted a paper for presentation on Competition Policy and Growth in the Southern African Customs Union
- Mr. Erwin Naimhwaka attended the 1st Congress of African Economist, Nairobi, Kenya, focusing on “the Creation of a Single African Currency”.
- Ms. Johanna Mumangeni attended an Economic-Wide Policy Modeling Workshop, 2 -6 March 2006 organised by bank of Namibia.

- Long-Term Financial Strategy – Bank of Namibia
- The Department has nominated Mr. Naimhwaka and Mr. Kandenge to serve on the research committee drafting the financial strategy for Namibia.
- Mr. Kandenge attended the stakeholder workshop where the Minister of Finance has launched the Financial Strategy on 13 May 2009.
- Mr. Naimhwaka attended the launch of the Monetary Policy Review at the Bank of Namibia, 13 May 2009.
- AERC Academic Board
- Dr. Kaakunga attended Executive Committee Meeting of the CMAP Academic Board, 27 April 2009. The meeting has approved the results of supplementary examinations and lecturers for the JFE.
- Dr. Kaakunga presented a prognosis of 2009/10 National Budget to the members of Parliament, in March 2009.
