Dr Amukugo is a Namibian educational sociologist. She has previously served UNAM as Senior Lecturer & Head of Department. (1996 – 2000). She rejoined UNAM in 2008, after serving as a Member of Parliament. In Parliament, she served as a Member of Committees on Foreign Affairs and Human Resources (including education and gender) respectively. She was the Founding Vice-President of the Forum of African Parliamentarians for Education and Member of the UNESCO Working Group on Education for All. She is currently a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Educational Foundations and Management and offers postgraduate courses in Sociology, Philosophy and History of Education; and a Specialised Diploma in Leadership and Management. She serves on the Faculty’s Curriculum Compilation Committee; and on the University's Research & Publication Committee and Quality Assurance Committee. She was a member of an African research team that carried out a “Survey of the Capacity Needs of Africa’s Regional Economic Communities”, published by ACBF in 2008.  Dr Amukugo is the current Chair: ACBF’s PARLIANET.
