Dr. Shalyefu is a lecturer in the Department of Adult and Nonformal Education at the University of Namibia. She holds a Certificate in Public Administration from the Polytechnic of Namibia, a Certificate in HIV/AIDS Counseling from the University of Namibia, two Certificates in Distance Education one from the Pennsylvania State University and another one from the University of South Africa, a Bachelor of Pedagogics degree from the University of Fort Hare (SA), a Bachelor of Education (postgraduate) degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA),  a Masters Degree in Adult and Nonformal  Education, and Educational Administration from the University of Massachusetts  (USA),  and a Ph.D. (Instructional Systems Design) from the Pennsylvania State University (USA). She has been teaching Research Methods and Needs Assessment Survey at undergraduate level and supervising research thesis and dissertations at postgraduate level. She is especially interested in designing programmmes for both print-based and electronic environments and also in assessing needs, planning, developing, and evaluating programmmes. In addition, she is part of the quality assurance group promoters at the University of Namibia. Her current research interest is focusing on the Namibian indigenous knowledge and how it can be revived with particular focus on adolescent initiation, youth life skills and marriage preparation.
