Pelagia-Peggy Shilamba is a lecturer in Curriculum Theory, Design and Practice at undergraduate degree and postgraduate diploma level. She has over 20 years of experience in the education. For the past 16 years, She has been involved in teacher education, at the Initial and In-services Basic Education Teacher Diploma (BETD) as well as BEd. Programs. Her previous professional experiences include lecturing in Education Theory and Practice at the Windhoek College of Education, serving as Teacher Education Curriculum Development Education Officer at the National Institute for Educational Development (NIED). She has been involved in the designing and implementation of Teacher Education Projects in Namibia, such as Promotion and Institutionalization of Population Education in the Educational System in Namibia (UNPF), Promotion and Institutionalization of Education for Human Right and Democracy (UNESCO), the Total Child (DFID) Project in Aminus, Environmental Education (DANIDA) and Teacher Education Reform Program (TERP). AS NERA Research team member she part of the annotated bibliography of the Collaborative study on quality education, sponsored by UNESCO in 2003. Peggy has work with the Unam Centre for external studies to tutor distance students and developed learning materials and assess and evaluation students during Teaching Practice.

Peggy’s academic and research interests focus on teacher education and educational excellence, Curriculum development and teacher cultural competencies. These are linked through looking at the processes of responding to learner diversity at various levels in education. Much of her Co/published work have been on teacher reflection or teacher critical inquiry and cultural diversity and teaching and learning.
