    7. Short Biography

    Dr Botha is Namibian-born and received his tertiary training at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Upon his return he joined the Academy, forerunner of the University of Namibia. He has lectured in History since 1982 until the present. He has taught courses in European, African, Southern African and Namibian history, as well as courses in World History and Historical Methodology. He has also been involved in teaching 4th year Research Essay students. He is currently supervising two masters students, one of whom is scheduled to complete his studies in June 2009. Dr. Botha actively engaged in research and publication in the following fields: white land settlement, colonial environmental policies, colonial development policies in the former Damaraland ‘homeland’, relationships in the settler community, pastoralism in Namibia and identity policies in the white community.
