| Prof Gretschel is a Namibian with over thirty years of experience in the education sector in Namibia. He has been involved in teacher education, the teaching of German as first as well as German as a foreign language for the past twenty five years and is examiner as well as moderator for the German NSSC examinations on Higher and Ordinary levels. Recently he has been involved in the training of professional translators for Namibia. He is a Professor for German in the Department of Language and Literature Studies and served as Dean for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences from 2005 until 2007. For his long and dedicated service to the German language in Namibia Prof Gretschel received the prestigious price “Projekt Lilie in Gold”. He is Vice-President of the Association for German Studies in Southern Africa (SAGV) and is a member of the panel of referees of the Association’s publication “Acta Germanica”. |
