    Ms Maree is Namibian with twenty-four years experience as a lecturer in social work at the University of Namibia. Over twenty years of experience in the education sector in Namibia. She has been involved in the theoretical and practical training of social work students. Over the past 15 years she specialised in community work, one of the social work models. She is responsible for a community work service that third year social work students are running in secondary schools, in the Khomas Region. The program is called Teenagers-Against-Alcohol/Drug- Abuse. She was involved in a two-year research project for Namdeb Mining Company in Oranjemund. Phase one of the study was a quantitative study to identify the main contributing factors to the use and abuse of alcohol and drugs by Namdeb employees. Second phase was a qualitative study with key informant interviews and focus group discussion regarding the causes, effects and possible intervention regarding alcohol and drug abuse.
