7. Short Biography

Armas started his academic career as a tutor for Introduction to Psychology in 1995, with the University of Namibia. He was later granted a Staff Development Fellow status while teaching in the Psychology Department, which enabled him to go for post-graduate studies, obtaining his Masters and later appointed as a fulltime lecturer in the same Department in 2003. He then applied for study leave to do his doctoral studies, which he completed in 2010, having obtained his PhD in Psychology of Religion from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Upon completion of his studies, he came back to the University of Namibia to resume his lecturing duties. Armas is married with a 7 year daughter. He lives with his family in Windhoek.

  • Wrote several newspaper articles on political, social ethics and psycho-spiritual (faith-based) issues.
  • Published a booklet, titled “Ano OIslam Oshike”, in the Oshiwambo language, the first such introductory Islamic Literature in the short history of Islam in Namibia
