WELCOME TO THE RESEARCH & PUBLICATIONS OFFICE (RPO)
In order for the University of Namibia (UNAM) to realize its research mandate as prescribed by the University of Namibia Act (Act No. 18 of 1992), the University Management ensured that the relevant internal structures were in place. Thus, the Research & Publications Office (RPO) was established under the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs & Research) and a Research & Publications Committee (RPC) was formed. The RPC is a committee of Senate whose purpose is to develop and promote the University’s strategy for research, scholarship and innovation. The RPC makes decisions on critical matters of research and publications including approvals for funding research projects. The RPO is oversees the day-to-day coordination of all research and publication activities undertaken by academics in all Centres and Faculties of UNAM. The RPO is responsible for the drafting of research-related policies and to oversee their implementation and staff adherence to them after approval by the relevant Committees. The RPO also undertakes other activities outlined in the various sections on this website; and works with staff in all faculties and centres at all campuses to create a conducive research environment and make UNAM one of the best universities in the region. This is in addition to constant engagement and consultations with other stakeholders including various Government Ministries and key Industry players to ensure that UNAM’s research remains relevant to the needs of the country (and beyond) and contribute towards the achievement of Vision 2030.
